Firm foundations for your child’s future are laid at Thornlow Preparatory School. From the moment your child joins us, he or she is recognised as an individual. We believe that these early days should be happy ones when enthusiasm for learning becomes second nature.

Thornlow Celebrated it's Centenary! |
On Tuesday 25th September 2012, the oldest Independent School in Weymouth and Dorchester celebrated its 100th Birthday. Cake and jelly were the order of the day!
Centenary celebrations continued when Former Pupils & Staff of the school, since 1997, returned to meet old and new friends at a Centenary BBQ on Friday 5th October 2012. "The Whole Hog" provided a wonderful feast including fine venison burgers - thank you Mr Jones for creating food fit for Queen Victoria herself! Thank you also to all former pupils and staff for regaling stories of days gone by and adding to very fond memories of our recent history.
The Thornlow Centenary Ball on 6th October 2012 could be yielded as our largest school reunion yet! Thank you to Mr and Mrs Crocker for joining our celebrations, without whom the school would not be here today. Thank you also to Ms Bryant and Mrs Jacobs for organising such a magnificent evening at The Pavillion, Weymouth; their presentation, on behalf of "The Friends", of an engraved gold bell and a Thornlow pupils handprint image of a boat was incredibly generous. The Centenary Ball marked a significant piece of history from present day and thank you to everyone who shared in such a glorious evening. |

As part of our celebrations for our Centenary Year, The Friends of Thornlow organised a wonderful Victorian Night.

St Andrew's Day was celebrated with the children coming into school dressed as characters from Scottish novels. The Saltire was hoisted on the school flag pole. Mr McGurk gave a talk at Assembly on scottish culture and then played a lament on the pipes. Can you guess who the characters are? Most of them came from the same novel. Peter Pan was the name of the novel. Who was the author?
Margi Chitty, an Old Girl of the school, judged the competition.
