Information: Lucy Clarke joined Thornlow during the Autumn 2008 term, initially to support the development of our Sailing curriculum. However, Mrs Clarke has since shared many more of her talents with us; she now also teaches the Reception Class numeracy and literacy, is piloting a new IT “Dragons Den” business course which she has developed and is also coaching the Hockey Team!

Mrs Clarke has a 17 month old baby daughter called Chloe and moved to Weymouth in October 2008 following her husband’s move to manage the new D & R Marina Development on Portland. Lucy loves the outdoors both the land and sea and has spent many years expeditionning and exploring; be it climbing the Scottish Munros where she was brought up, living with local Masai in Kenya, or competing in some wonderful sailing events!

Mrs Clarke is one of a new breed of teachers, joining education later in life following a successful career in the business world. Mrs Clarke graduated from Glasgow University with a BSc (Hons) degree, and went on to complete a Graduate Management Training Programme with Asda; being offered the role of PA to Sir Archie Norman before moving on! Lucy then joined Mars Confectionery UK Ltd, and held a variety of roles within the UK Sales and International Sales teams, before moving into Trade Marketing, and then more recently, Business Training. Following nearly 8 years with Mars, working with all their leading confectionary brands Lucy moved on to progress her career with R. Twinings Ltd – a journey from chocolate to tea! Lucy’s role at Twinings was all encompassing as she was responsible for developing and managing the entire “own label” operation from logistics, production, marketing and sales between Twinings and Fortnum & Mason in London.

Lucy has worked with all ages at Thornlow, and has already developed and led some innovative and exciting leaps forward in the curriculum. Lucy has an infectious enthusiasm and loves working to inspire the children using many unique and creative techniques - the children seem to enjoy working with her and it’s great to have Lucy on the team!
