Each year the Independent Schools Association (ISA) organise a prestigious Art Competition for all independent school pupils in the country.
Thornlow Preparatory School, Weymouth sent a selection of pieces of work to the South West Regional heat held at Trinity School on 5th March 2010, and were overjoyed to be awarded one 1st prize and 2 runner-up awards against 30 other schools from across the South West.
The proud winners are Alex Bennett and Christopher Farran (both 7), who received 1st prize for their driftwood sculpture of a pirate ship in the U7’s 3-d category, and now go on to have their work included in the National Finals in Manchester later in the year.
Runner-ups were William Jacobs (age 5) for his giraffe collage in the U7’s Art category, and Leah Fulbrook (age 10) for her mini felt totem design in the U11’s Textiles/Needlework category.
Congratulations to all these children, and to all the Thornlow pupils who regularly produce outstanding pieces of work across the full art and design spectrum.
