Sport makes us healthy. That is why sport here is for all. We want every child, through expert coaching, to develop skills and express themselves through adventure and team-working.
We want every child to enjoy playing his or her heart out whatever their level.
We are very serious about the way we play games. We practise hard so that we can go out there and win. Of course, we can’t win every time, and there are important lessons to be learned from both victory and defeat. Thornlow children are taught to be courteous in victory, gracious and resilient in defeat.

Welldone "Team Thornlow" who really gave their all in the South West ISA Athletics Trials held in Exeter Arena today, 6th June 2011. We were a great team, supporting each other in every event, cheering each other on - gleening glowing smiles from our teammates whilst competing! Robert excelled in the 600m finishing second overall, he also came first in his age group for the long jump, jumping 3.24m - welldone Robert, a student showing incredible athletic capability on track and field. Fraser threw superbly in the Shot Put, Tom jumped an impressive 3.34m in the Long Jump finishing 6th overall before then competing in a tough 200m race. Barney raced in the 80m and competed in the High Jump setting himself a personal best. Jamie demonstrated great ability in both the 600m and Long Jump. Joseph competed competently in the 75m and the Long Jump and Thomas showed incredible tenacity in the 600m and threw over 20m in the Cricket Ball Throw. Leah was a strong contender in the 100m and Long Jump, and Rebecca came 3rd in both the High Jump and 800m. Katie was a noble competitor in the 80m and Long Jump and Isabelle showed great capability on the track during a 150m race having already thrown nearly 19m in the Rounders Ball Throw. Sky deserves a notable mention as she raced to success securing herself a place in the 200m final having already thrown great distances in the Shot Put event. Mr Fowke offered lots of encouragement to our team and Mrs Clarke enjoyed her time as official measurer in the rounders and cricket ball throw whilst also trying to share her wisdom with our competitors! All final results can be viewed on the official ISA website.
All in all a wonderful day - thank you for inspiring me Team Thornlow - you were all wonderful competitors today you should be proud of your achievements! |
