Spring 2009 has seen the integration of Business into the Year 7 & 8's I.C.T curriculum. Already, we have seen the creation of two enthusiastic business units, each person involved having a key role from Managing Director to Financial Controller!
The expanded curriculum allows Thornlow's budding entrepreneurs to explore a vast array of business skills which will allow them to develop their own ideas from concept to design. Along their exciting business journey an insight into sales, marketing, production and financial planning will be gained and at the end of learning how to market their product they will face Thornlow's panel of judges to formally present their idea. The summer term will go on to see the teams actually launch their products, so all support would be gratefully received! As in any business project many learnings will be made along the way and should any profit be made then you can be assured that it will be donated to charity or a project supported by the school.
The course ensures that everyone involved will cover many key skills required in business life, from how to run effective meetings to developing first class presentation skills. So, watch this space who knows Thornlow may produce the next Young Entrepreneur of the year!
The photo above shows "Aprons4U" deciding upon which idea they should progress. Aprons4U are now working on gathering some quantitative data to ensure that their idea can be as successful as they passionately believe it can be!
The images below are of "Team Albmed" and their Initial Business Ideas Mind Map. Team Albmed recently voted on the business idea they wanted to develop.
Albmed are now in the process of completing a SWOT analysis to ensure that they have considered all strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats; crucial for all successful businesses to have considered before progressing. Albmed are also debating their business name, which will allow them to develop a clear brand identity.
