Music lessons PDF Print E-mail

There are many outlets for students with a musical flair, and music training is encouraged in every child.

Thornlow aim to have all students to be able to read music and play at least one instrument when they leave in year 8.  All students are taught to play the recorder and sing in a choir. The senior's sea-shanty choir is already well reputed, and the recorder choir have had public performances where students played in parts and were accompanied by hand-bells and voices.  In classes students appreciate a range of music in both style and period from classical to modern and ballet to hiphop.  They learn to write and perform music and study theory of notation.  Everyone has a musical bone in their body, we aim to find it and develop it.  Private music lessons are also available in a large number of instruments including guitar, piano, and violin.  A large number of students choose to specialise and can pick up an instrument at any stage in their schooling.
