Swimming

Everyone at Thornlow learns to swim. Children in Reception and Years 1 and 2 use the Weymouth Teaching Pool. Years 3-8 use the Boscawen pool on Portland every Tuesday for an hour.

Before they leave us, we want every child to be able to swim 25 metres at the very least. We teach all strokes. There is advanced coaching for talented swimmers.

We attach great importance to safety, of course. There are always qualified lifeguards in attendance.

5 firsts in ISA South West Swimming Gala! PDF Print E-mail

Team Thornlow qualified in 5 events and astounded the crowds at a recent ISA South West Swimming Gala held in Penzance.

Jessica, James and Samuel all went on to qualify to compete in the Nationals, to be held in Coventry on May 18th 2013.

We may be a small school but we are certainly achieving big results!
