We attach the highest importance to teaching our children the vitally important skills of expressing themselves in written and spoken words.
We track and record progress meticulously and constantly by means of GL Assessment – Everyone takes tests at Key Stages 1, 2 and 3, after which we follow the Common Entrance and Senior School Scolarship syllabus. There are school exams twice a year.
Good grammar, accurate spelling and punctuation and neat handwriting are paramount.
As important is a love of words. We stimulate this by encouraging reading for sheer pleasure through book fairs, reading and writing competitions, plays, theatre visits and debates.

The Monster Raving Loony Party, represented by Fraser, Tom and Isaac out-witted the other political parties in our Mock Election Debate, held on Friday 7th May in the School Hall, to win the most votes. Congratulations to all those who prepared excellent speeches, searching questions and took part in the 'itslearning' online discussion in the 2 weeks leading up to the debate.
