We know that some children can find numbers quite scary, so we teach this vitally important subject by making it fascinating and fun.

Early on, children focus on basic numeracy skills – times tables and mental arithmetic. Secure foundations are vital. Progress is tracked closely and recorded constantly.

As they progress, children experience a curriculum which both consolidates existing skills and teaches them more difficult mathematical concepts.

We encourage them to develop their skills in ‘real life’ situations in other subjects. On fieldwork trips, for example, they learn to measure, record and assess information graphically.

All children take Key Stage tests 1, 2 and 3.
