Teaching & Learning

Through small, well equipped classes and a traditional curriculum our pupils develop confidence and skills to accompany them through life. Creativity in the fields of Art, Drama and Music are an important part of school life. Pupils participate in annual performances and concerts. Past productions include Lord of The Flies, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, Toad of Toad Hall and The Railway Children. An unique feature of the school is its Sea Shanty Choir. The choir has performed on the RNLI Lifeboat and at different venues in Weymouth, Dorchester and The Festival of The Sea in Portsmouth.

Sporting activities at Thornlow include Rugby, Hockey, Tennis, Cricket, Athletics, Rowing and Swimming.  During the summer Sailing is on the curriculum and we have also taken part in an Outdoor Activities Programme in the winter months.  Pupils at Thornlow compete in sports fixtures against many other schools and have achieved some inspiring results at local, regional and national levels.
